Reading Jay Rainer's "20 Restaurants you would no want to eat at." I love a bad restaurant review.
Also on the go, a book about Operation Market Garden, very good, and just finished Sir Trevor's of Barkings latest.
Proper book worm me.

Don Winslows just released a follow up to 'the Power of the Dog' ,which is a brilliant read, called The Cartel. Only in hard back at the moment tho
So if you haven't read The Power get that one.

Shantaram is an epic read. Great book, 950 odd pages long, but well worth the investment in time and money.

Just read Kill Your Friends.
Thought it was a crass, dumbed-down copy of American Psycho.
The ending was a real letdown.

My uncle fought in Burma , got the Burma Star, The old man fought in Malaysia for 4 years, The people of those countries and the whole SE Asia region know nothing of their history. There are some beautiful allied graveyards In Malaysia . If you've read about the Japs in Malaysia as you go further north the dates get earlier. Only small graveyard with 20 or 30 graves, going by date from North to south as the Japanese made their advance

Ive had this book for ages but only just started reading it The Burma Road.
Goes right from the retreat, rhe US volunteer force and stationed in China fighting the Japanese. Windgate who trained the Chindits, I didnt know before that but he was an eccentric old bean and trained Israeli Guerrilla forces in the 30s and Ethiopian guerrilla force's to fight the Italians

Just finished 'GALVESTON' by Nic Pizzolatto (the guy who wrote the TV series 'True Detective').
Excellent thriller set in New Orleans and then the Gulf Coast of Texas. A mob enforcer is on the run from his boss with a naive young hooker in tow after both escape alive from a setup he was meant to be killed in. Moody and atmospheric, totally believable characters and some great dialogue.

Try Keith Hoare (author) starting with "The People Traffickers"
I started reading it on my Kindle, read it right through without putting it down, then immediately went on to the next in the series "The People Traders" read that right through & finished up reading the full set (about 8 or 9)
Great stuff, can't wait till the next one!
Keith Richards "Life" is a great read too
